Mixing Technology » Mechanical Sealing Systems

Mechanical Seals play an important role in the chemical process industries. These devices prevent product leakage and toxic emission during the mixer service under pressure. Since the mechanical seal life is strictly connected with the mixer design, our engineers are always studying new improved sealing arrangements with the cooperation of all major mechanical seal companies in order to provide the most complete service and support.
ZUCCHETTI designs and realizes the mechanical seal cartridge with the proper bearing to load the dynamic hydraulic forces produced by the impellers. Mechanical seals elements are selected from the best seal international companies.
The mechanical seal cartridge can be supplied with the following accessories:

Mechanical sealing systems
  • Seal Change Device
The drives are designed with spacer and supporting ring in order to dismount and replace the mechanical seal cartridge on site without disconnection of motor or gearbox removal. Arm system and special mechanical devices are supplied to lift and remove the seal cartridge/spacer shaft/coupling from the housing

  • Seal shut-off & Tank shut-off device
The seal shut-off device can be supplied in case the seal cartridge is requested to be replaced with the reactor under pressure. All the side entering mixers are equipped with a standard tank shut off device for seal maintenance with tank full of liquid

  • Mechanical seal lubrication
Unless the dry-running seals, the lubrication is made with one of the following devices:
    • Gas lubrication
    • Pressureless oil pot which lubricate the seal faces by capillary action
    • Oil pot pressurized to a level higher than the operation pressure in the reactor
    • Variable pressure piston connected with the reactor pressure for optimum seal faces wear and heat generation
    • The buffer fluid circulation is obtained by thermosyphon or in case of insufficient heat dissipation a forced circulation will be applied.
    • The standard buffer fluid capacity are: 3, 6, 12 and 22 liters.
