SEALS

Seals play an important role in the chemical process industries

These devices prevent product leakage and toxic emission during the mixer service under pressure.

Since the seal life is strictly connected with the shaft mixer design, our engineers are always studying new improved sealing arrangements.

Here below we give a description of the dynamic seals. As far as concerns the static hermetic seals, obtained by a can with the installation of permanent magnetic coupling, they will be described in a different section.

AXIAL

These axial impellers are designed for high discharge and low or medium shearing stress.

The selection is made on the base of the grade of the product viscosity:

• Propeller : Up to 1000 cps and 1000 mm diameter
• Hydrofoil impellers: up to 15,000 cps and 2500 mm diameter
• Pitched blade turbine: up to 25,000 cps and 3000 mm diameter
• Helical ribbon: from 50,000 up to 1,000,000 cps and 3500 mm diameter (see picture)

RADIAL FLOW IMPELLERS

Radial flow impellers have low discharges despite the relatively higher power consumption.

They can operate at high speed in order to produce strong shearing action and often they are combined with axial flow impeller to guarantee the circulation in large tanks.

Radial flow impellers are:
